That Monday morning traffic was horrible. Especially, that one signal in particular. But the pot-bellied traffic policeman was nevertheless doing his best to get the vehicles moving…

That one customer was really a hard nut to crack. The calls were dragging on without closure. That one jet-lagged in-person meeting with him followed with happy-hours in the evening would have sealed the deal.

Those office colleagues who would idle around the coffee vending machine to pass on a rumor or two. That office assistant who would invariably spill the beans on who is hanging around with whom. That one ‘super connected’ colleague who would know every major company decision even before they were announced…

Those silly reasons given to the boss in the middle of a production issue to meet the promise of a movie evening with family! That fast gulping of hot sizzlers in the food court with watering eyes to make it to the movie in time. Spending a thousand bucks and coming back completely let down by the utterly disastrous movie that had noting more than song-and-dance drama. Cursing oneself and pledging never to go watch the same hero/director again!

Those mentally exhausting trips to temple towns acting as a tour guide to the family. Arranging vehicles, darshan tickets, sight seeings and finally hearing from the family that they could hardly see the deity and that the trip could have been better arranged!

That IPL match in the stadium. Shouting the lungs out supporting the home team. Witnessing the first ball duck of the most promising opener and see the rest of the batsmen gifting their wickets and walking back to the pavilion in hurry! That silent wishing that you could yourself walk down to the pitch and steer the team to a win!

And those weddings! Those introductions to distant relatives one after the other even before the mind could draw up a rough family tree. Those relatives whose kids would invariably be in the states and those innocent comparisons of how we are doing against them!
